The Bulmershe Theatre is located within the Minghella Studios building, home of the Film, Theatre & Television Department at the University of Reading.

How to get there

The Minghella Studios building is on the WhiteKnights Campus of the University of Reading (Building 195)

The entrance and exit to the Bulmershe Theatre is via our pop-up Box Office, located in the foyer of the Minghella Studios.

RABBLE's Front of House team will be on hand to direct you.

You may have to queue for admission to the venue and then to the auditorium.

Travelling

Be sure to set aside more than enough time for your journey to the venue, it may not be possible to seat latecomers once the performance has started.

If possible, consider walking or cycling at least part of the way. Check your route if travelling by public transport.

• Walk/Cycle: Bikes can be secured at the bike shelter adjacent to the Minghella Building.
• Bus: Plan your journey with Reading Buses. Bus numbers 21/21a stop within the campus (UoR WhiteKnights) or the number 3 stops along Shinfield Road/Chancellors Way.
• Rail: The Minghella building is approximately a 40-minute walk from Reading Train Station. Alternatively, you can use public transport from Bus Stop EK.
• Car: If you are coming by car please use the following postcode in your sat nav for the Whiteknights Campus: RG6 6UR.
  Visitors are required to use Car Park 1a, a pay-and-display car park. This is on the left as you enter the University Campus from the Shinfield Road Entrance. The Minghella Building is then a 5-minute walk, clearly signposted on campus as Minghella Building 195.
• Blue-badge The nearest blue-badge parking is beside the Minghella Building, though it has limited blue-badge bays. It is possible to drop off near the building before parking.

Opening times: Box Office and Doors

Please check your order confirmation for times and dates of your booking.

• Glitch running time: 80 minutes, no interval

• The Box Office and Bar open 1 hour before the show; the theatre opens 15 minutes before.

Latecomers Policy

• Please arrive in good time. Once the performance has started, late admission may not be possible.

Tickets

• Tickets must be purchased in advance.
• RABBLE does not issue e-tickets, your order confirmation is your proof of booking, and there’s no need to print anything.
• When you arrive at the Minghella Studios, our front-of-house team will ask for the name of the booker.
• You’ll only need to show your confirmation if there is any discrepancy.

Programmes

• Our programme is an essential companion to the production. Please consider supporting our cast and creatives by purchasing a copy.

What should I bring?

Please keep your belongings to an absolute minimum and with you at all times. The Minghella Studios do not have any cloakroom facilities.

Cashless

Please note that we are a cashless venue so all payments for programmes, refreshments and merchandise must be paid using a debit or credit card only.

Pre-show refreshments

• The RABBLE bar will be open 1 hour before the show and will close 5 minutes before the start.
• Enjoy organic wines and lager from Vintage Roots, Hoppit, a classic bitter from Loddon Brewery and Lumina, a session IPA from Siren Craft Brew plus a selection or organic soft options, crisps and popcorn too.
• We kindly ask that you do not bring your own food or drink into the venue.
• Please note RABBLE is cashless – we accept card payments only.

Seating

• Seats are unallocated.
• Some seats are reserved for access.
• The theatre has bench-style seating with backrests. To help us accommodate everyone comfortably, please avoid leaving empty seats between parties. Our front-of-house team may ask you to move along—thank you for supporting them.
• In exceptional circumstances you may be asked to change seats in order for us to accommodate an unforeseen request for accessible seating.

Facilities

• Toilets, including an accessible toilet, are located on the ground floor.
• We do not operate a cloakroom. For safety and security reasons, we kindly discourage bringing large bags to the venue.

Photography & Video

Photography and video recording is not permitted in any of our venues, and please can we remind you to turn all phones and mobile devices off (not just silent) for the duration of all performances.

Accessibility

Minghella Studios is an accessible building for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues and if you require accessibility please contact us so that we can reserve a designated accessible space for you and seats for your party.
