Trustee: Catherine Sadd

Following a twenty-year career in the financial sector, Catherine embarked on a second career in state education as an English Teacher, from which she recently retired. She has recently completed a memoir writing course at Oxford, works as cover teacher, English tutor and is passionate about live performance of all types.

“I am an enthusiastic champion of theatre in education as a way of showing young people how classroom learning relates to the wider world. Moreover, I desperately want to make it easier for teachers to get students out of classrooms and into experiencing live performance. I know first-hand how much energy it takes to arrange extra-curricular activities so I’d like to find ways of overcoming some of the obstacles teachers face.

If young adults don’t continue engaging with drama beyond formal education, both they and theatre will be poorer. Professional theatre, locally, is an excellent place to get involved without the planning, cost and commitment of London theatre.

My first RABBLE production was in 2013 with 90 lively, fourteen year olds. From that first experience I was struck by the high-quality of the production but also the company’s energy in raising the profile of Reading’s cultural scene.

I am genuinely excited to be part of the board of trustees.”
